Content governance
Currently, I am the chairperson for the content governance committee at the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The purpose of this group is to ensure a coordinated agencywide; identity and strategic approach to the management of digital properties. Committee activities promote continuous improvement so department's digital properties, online platforms and communication technologies remain effective tools for key agency stakeholders: employees, clients, the general public, business partners, counties and tribes.

The committee is the primary governing group for the department’s internal and external digital properties and platforms for managing content, information, collaboration and relationships.
Digital governance is a framework for establishing accountability, roles and decision making authority for the agency’s digital presence. This includes websites, mobile sites, social channels and other Internet services.

Digital governance framework overview

Implementing a digital governance framework minimizes the number of tactical debates regarding the nature and management of the digital presence by making clear who on the team has decision-making authority for these areas:

-
Digital strategy articulates an overall digital approach to leveraging their digital capabilities.
-
Digital policies are guidance statements put into place to manage risk and ensure that the organization's core interests are served as it operates online. Think of policies as guardrails that keep the organization’s digital presence from going off the road.
-
Digital standards ensure optimal digital quality and effectiveness. Standards address a broad range of topics with depth, such as overall content strategy and user experience concerns, as well as tactical specifications.
